Animal movements and locomotive patterns have been used in calisthenics, gymnastics, martial arts, dance and playground games, and their positive effects reach beyond just being fun exercises. In this workshop we will focus on 3 movements: the bear, the monkey and the frogger. All 3 work on building the foundation of strength, flexibility and motor control, attributes you need to move and feel better.
In this workshop, you will learn the 3 animal movements, plus several of their variations, transitions, and flexibility exercises. You will also learn how to assess your own movement patterns and identify the areas you need to focus on in your training. The workshop will culminate with connecting movements to create some fun and challenging movement “flows.”
These movements are a good place to start if you are new to bodyweight training and moving, or if you are well into bodyweight training and looking to build your skill level. Locomotion is also great cross training for any other sport or activity and using these patterns will take your training to the next level.
Open to all levels, no experience required, just a willingness to crawl around on the floor, explore and have fun!
